A great deal of Vancouver's commercial food retail sits in buildings that predate any expectation of receiving a cold room. Narrow frontages on arterial streets, no rear laneway, a shared alley that a loaded trailer cannot turn into, residential floors above, and street parking that has to be permitted and coned before a delivery can stand.
Richmond and Burnaby add a different problem: large-format supermarkets inside multi-tenant centres with shared loading bays, booked dock windows and a property manager whose rules matter as much as the building code.

Usually yes, but the sizing logic is different from a year-round operation. The controlling factor is how fast field heat has to come out and how much product moves per day at peak, not how much can be stored at once.
The three honest options are sizing for the peak and accepting idle months, building modular so panel runs can be extended before a bigger season, or splitting the requirement so part of it can be shut down. We will price the comparison rather than default to the largest.
It affects the promise more than the project. Interior and northern deliveries cross ground where a closure is a normal winter event, so dates through those months are set with deliberate flexibility rather than committed to and then missed.
Once equipment is on site, the installation itself is largely unaffected. It is the road, and occasionally the state of the yard, that moves a day.
It changes the schedule and the consolidation. A sailing has to be planned into the delivery, load dimensions matter more, and weather cancellations are a real possibility that belongs in the plan rather than in an apology.
The practical response is to ship the whole scope together so a single crossing carries everything, and to send a small parts kit with the room so a missing gasket does not become another sailing.
On the coast it is usually a humidity and surface temperature problem rather than a failure. Mild, persistently moist air against a cold panel face will condense, and it shows up most in enclosed back-of-house spaces with poor air movement.
The fixes are practical: check for a thermal bridge or a compromised joint, improve ventilation and air movement in the surrounding space, and review the threshold and door sweep detail where most of the moisture is entering. It is worth diagnosing properly before anyone starts replacing equipment.

The condensing capacity may genuinely differ. Interior summer conditions are far warmer than coastal ones, and a package sized comfortably for Vancouver can be marginal in the Okanagan. That is recorded as a documented site variation rather than a different standard.
